The Climate Pledge and the SME Climate Hub are collaborating to help business leaders take robust climate action. The SME Climate Hub caters specifically to small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) with under 500 employees. Through the SME Climate Hub, small businesses can make an internationally recognized climate commitment, take action, and measure and communicate their progress towards emissions reductions through the Hub’s tools and resources.
The Climate Pledge is a cross-sector community of companies supported by organizations and partners in the climate sector, working together to crack the climate crisis and solve the challenges of decarbonizing our economy. Bringing together those that are prepared to run the furthest and fastest, The Climate Pledge calls on signatories to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2040—10 years ahead of the Paris Agreement. The Climate Pledge includes businesses of all sizes – from industry leaders like Amazon, Salesforce, Mercedes-Benz, and Microsoft – to global SMEs.
Together, The Climate Pledge and The SME Climate Hub mobilize businesses of every size, sector, and region to take action towards a more sustainable, equal future.
Signatories of the Pledge commit to three areas of action:
Regular Reporting – Measure and report greenhouse gas emissions publicly and on a regular basis.
Carbon Elimination – Implement decarbonization strategies in line with the Paris Agreement through real business changes and innovations, including efficiency improvements, renewable energy, materials reductions, and other carbon emission elimination strategies.
Credible Offsets – Neutralize any remaining emissions with additional, quantifiable, real, permanent, and socially-beneficial offsets to achieve net-zero annual carbon emissions by 2040.
