We have committed to the SME Climate Commitment: to halve emissions by 2030 and reach net zero before 2050. This is our first full emissions estimate, so 2026 is our base year. The base year figure is an estimate based on activity data and assumptions, not metered data, and we expect to refine it as our record-keeping improves. Our net zero target is a target, not our current status. Tree planting and other offsets are reported separately and do not count towards our reductions.

Estimated with the Small Business Carbon Calculator v2.1 for 1 Oct 2025 to 30 Sep 2026: 9.52 tCO2e in total, all Scope 3 (air travel 5.52, accommodation 3.43, homeworking 0.40, coworking/leased space 0.17). Inputs are estimates, not records: approx. 36,600 km of flights, 330 nights in rented accommodation, about 30% of working time in coworking space. Software and AI subscriptions (about GBP 324) were entered as expenses but did not produce a separate line in the results. Not captured: devices (all refurbished), cloud and AI usage emissions beyond spend, travel to our coworking space.

This is our first emissions estimate, so there is no earlier year to compare against. Our total for 1 October 2025 to 30 September 2026 is 9.52 tCO2e, all Scope 3, calculated with the Small Business Carbon Calculator. Most of it is air travel (5.52 tCO2e) and accommodation (3.43 tCO2e), because the founder works remotely while travelling. Scope 1 and 2 are zero because we have no premises, vehicles or energy contracts. The activity inputs are estimates, not records. Actions taken: we joined the SME Climate Commitment and took part in the BT and Small Business Britain Sustainability for Small Business programme (CPD-accredited). We work fully remotely with no commuting, buy only refurbished devices and recycle old technology. We plan to move our website from Wix to a green hosting provider. That has not happened yet and is not counted as a reduction. We have not yet measured how much these actions reduce our emissions. Separately from our reductions, we have funded 20 mangrove trees through Ecologi (Kandrary 2, Madagascar). We do not count this against our emissions, and we are not carbon neutral or net zero today.
