2.1.1 Base year*

2025

2.1.2 Base year value*

65.57

Base year value confirmation*

I confirm that I have entered my base year value in metric tons CO2e

2.2 Near-term target*

20% of absolute scope 1+2+3 emission reduction from my base year by 2027

2.3 Provide any additional comments or context on your net zero and near term targets.*

Data gaps beyond our control or incomplete (principally energy and waste in a shared building) make accurate target setting problematic. As we progress we are working to achieve a more accurate data set with landlord and waste contractors, but this *could* mean that the baseline is too low or possibly too high. It is presently the best we can calculate. If the baseline is too low/high, it will then of course have a knock on effect on reduction percentages.

2.4 To reduce emissions in line with my commitment, my company has a climate action plan and is taking action*

3.7.2 Describe your actions taken to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions in the reporting period*

We have made the move from strategy to action planning for climate adaptation, which is not yet complete but is underway.

3.8 Which tools or methods did you use to calculate your Scope 1 and 2 emissions?*

Small Business Carbon Calculator

3.8.1 Specify any additional details*

Our office occupies approximately 40 m² within a shared building. Electricity is supplied and recharged by the landlord, but no apportioned kWh consumption data are available. Annual electricity consumption is estimated at 1,800 kWh using an equipment-based calculation that accounts for laptops, monitors, lighting and other office equipment. Gas consumption for space heating is estimated at 7,500 kWh annually. This is based on a non-domestic office energy benchmark of approximately 148 kWh/m²/year, adjusted upwards to provide a precautionary allowance for uncertainty relating to heat loss, large windows, heating operation and the absence of sub-metered consumption data. The resulting provisional annual energy estimate is 9,300 kWh, comprising 1,800 kWh of electricity and 7,500 kWh of gas. Applying the relevant 2026 UK Government conversion factors gives estimated emissions of approximately 1.6 tonnes CO₂e. These figures are proxy estimates rather than measured consumption. The gas estimate is particularly uncertain because the heating system is shared and the office's attributable share of building gas consumption has not been established. The estimates should be reviewed if the landlord can provide metered data or a defensible allocation of building energy use. We are informed by the landlord that the energy is sourced from a renewables tariff but it should be noted that we are unable to independently verify this at present.

Results, Challenges and Outlook *

7.1 Provide any additional comments or context on your annual results and progress from previous years.*

Even with this simple version, it is very challenging as a small business to generate the data required in sufficient quantities and with sufficient accuracy to help with a meaningful assessment, particularly when located in a shared office building where energy and waste for example are not calculated on an office by office basis (and a per square foot apportionment is not appropriate due to differing types of businesses in terms of waste generation and energy consumption). The cost of accurately calculating many of the measures is prohibitively expensive, so several proxy measures have been used. However, in a relatively low impact business sector such as ours, slight annual variances in estimates and proxy measures risks making a quantitative assessment problematic as it could significantly skew the results by over or under estimating baselines. Qualitative reporting is clearly not as comparable with other businesses or useful for target setting, but for very small businesses with low footprint like ours there are interventions that we cannot measure but that will have an impact in terms of offsetting, for example a considerable amount of work in green infrastructure in our home town and also for the building we occupy. There are also areas where we know we are making changes but where the simplified nature of this reporting approach means that they are unlikely to be picked up e.g. moving to cloud-based file sharing rather than using email attachments.

7.2 Do you face any key challenges in reducing emissions?*

Reducing scope 3 emissions, Limited control over energy use in buildings, Reducing emissions from business travel, Electrifying the vehicle fleet and/or cutting transport emissions, Complexities in managing supply chain emissions, Time constraints, Insufficient funding, Inaccurate or insufficient data

Specify other challenges*

7.3 Has there been any third party validation of the data submitted in this report?*
