Due to the nature of our work, we base our target on reduction “per £ million turnover” and “per full time employee (FTE)”. This allows for comparison between companies, but can also provide a useful alternative to absolute figures. For example, if a company is growing rapidly the absolute tCO2e figure may increase, however the intensity metric will be useful in highlighting relative improvements in carbon intensity.

This is our first formal report after having this done informally in-house for a period of time. We found that hiring an external consultant provides a valuable insight into what we can do better as a business to reduce the impact.
