Our mission is to create high quality cosmetic products that your skin and hair will love and to do so in a way which is both sustainable and ethical. Simply put, to us this means treating people, animals and the planet with kindness and respect. This is the driving principle behind our business and influences the products we make, the ingredients we use, the relationships with our customers and suppliers, the packaging we use and the many choices we make in the day to day running of our business.

*

50% of absolute scope 1 emission reduction from my base year by 2025

2.3 Provide any additional comments or context on your net zero and near term targets.

*
Scope 1 near-term target. Our scope 1 emissions are from 2 sources: 1)our vehicle use, driving to markets and events and taking deliveries to customers. We intend to buy an electric car in the future when our car needs replacing. This may not be for several years. 2)The use of natural gas for heating premises and for use in the process of heating water and melting oils etc. In April 2024 we will be moving into a renovated building which will be heated by electricity and in which there will be an electric water heater and hob. The target is for this change to reduce our scope 1 emissions by 50%. We do not have a Scope 2 near-term target as our electricity is already from 100% renewable sources and so our Scope 2 emissions already stand at zero.

*
Although our Scope 2 emissions are zero as 100% of our electricity is from renewable sources, it is still important to try to increase Energy Efficiency at work in order to use less. What we do: - we have installed LED lighting in the Soap House - Turn off lights when not in rooms - Housekeeping of emails – delete / empty junk folder / bin etc and reduce emails where possible - We turn off the computer / printers / radio when not using rather than having them on standby mode In April 2024 we moved into a renovated building which is heated by electricity and in which there is an electric water heater and hob. The target is for this change to reduce our scope 1 emissions by over 50%. This will be reported in our 2024 report.

3.8 Describe the calculation methodology and comment on the data accuracy, including any tools/methods used to calculate.

*
We used the SSE Energy Solutions Carbon Footprint Calculator to calcualate emissions. This made use of enery usage / mileage figures. https://www.sseenergysolutions.co.uk/business-energy/net-zero-hub/carbon-footprint-calculator uUr scope 1 emmissions were measuered as 10.7 last year and so we have seen a big decrease this year. This may be from energy saving measures that we have taken but may also be becasue we have used a different tool to do the measurements.
