Day-to-day activities occur primarily at our office locations in Calgary, Alberta and Gatineau, Quebec. The largest source of emissions for the company is from the air travel required for project execution and corporate commitments.

Alinea will continue to explore options to reduce emissions. Initial strategies include exploring greener options for natural gas and electricity consumption at the Calgary and Gatineau offices to reduce scope 1 emissions and decreasing electricity consumption through more efficient power adapters and LED lights to lower scope 2 emissions.

Alinea works with Ecometrica, a reputable carbon emissions calculation company. They assist us with the aggregation and calculation of the company’s carbon emissions to ensure the validity and accuracy of progress towards net zero. Data is compiled by designated staff at the Calgary and Gatineau office locations and verified with Ecometrica’s support.

Alinea International is working to reduce our carbon emissions related to business travel by purchasing carbon offsets. Employees are encouraged to commute to the office through lower carbon intensive means such as public transit. Employees also have the option to work from home on occasion which reduces the Company's overall commuting emissions.

With the support of Ecometrica, Alinea accurately calculates scope 3 emissions based on data provided by employee self-reporting of commuting practices and staff calculation of emissions from air travel. The report provided to Alinea International for it's Scope 3 emissions also include two additional categories that are not offered above. To reach the total 1421.7 metric tons of CO2e for Scope 3, homeworkers as a category is 11.29 metrics tons CO2e and the premises for the Calgary and Gatineau office locations are 10.79 tons CO2e. For the purpose of this report, these figures have been included in the purchased goods and services category.

Yes

The environment and combatting climate change are both a part of Alinea's mission statement and commitments. As part of our commitment to net zero, Alinea Canada and Alinea UK have created carbon reduction plans that set out the steps towards achieving net zero by 2050. These documents are shared publicly on our website and shared with business partners when required. Duty of care and best environmental practices are detailed in our codes of conduct to ensure employees, programming partners, beneficiaries and other stakeholders are aware of Alinea's mission. Alinea is also a part of the UN Global Compact and we annually complete a report to communicate our progress.

6.4 Have you taken actions this year outside of your emissions to accelerate climate progress?

Yes

Our biggest contribution to emissions comes from the carbon emitted during corporate and project specific air travel. The Company has committed to reducing this source of emissions as far as is practicable. Recognizing that air travel is a necessary part of our business, where possible, we work with our clients to reduce the negative environmental impact by purchasing carbon offsets from verified and certified entities. Our offices are located near to public transit hubs and bikes paths and employees are encouraged to commute to work through these means. The Calgary and Gatineau offices both have extensive recycling and food waste programs in place that are well utilized by staff.

We are pleased to report that our emissions, especially scope 1, have been steadily decreasing. This can be attributed to the company’s initiative to offset project travel.
