1. Audit

2. Analyze

3. Understand usage
Install loggers on your most energy intensive equipment to understand usage and identify opportunities.
4. Upskill staff
Upskill staff on energy management principles and best practices through courses and trainings.
5. Prioritize
Use information ​on your​​ facility’s energy use to prioritize energy efficiency actions and activities.
6. Implement
Address low hanging fruit such as retiring vestigial equipment​ ​and implementing more efficient operating strategies.
7. Invest
​​​Invest in more energy-efficient equipment when equipment is ready to be replaced.

Examples of SME actions

Implement an Energy Management System to monitor and optimise energy use.
Install sub-meters ​or Smart thermostats ​to measure energy use of individual processes.
Set minimum internal standards for new equipment purchases relative to efficiency.
