Key steps for SMEs to take

1. Track usage
​​​Understand and track electricity usage by time of day, month, and season.
2. Reduce
Implement efficiency measures to reduce electricity consumption.
3. Engage
If you don’t procure electricity yourself, engage your landlord or co-manufacture ​to understand their willingness to source renewable power​.
4. Identify options
Identify and assess available renewable power procurement options.
5. Procure
Procure renewable power via selected method.
6. Electrify
Electrify processes where possible to utilise your clean power.

Examples of SME actions

Upskill yourself and staff on​ different renewable energy procurement options such as: power purchase agreements (PPAs) and green power products.
​​​If you don’t procure electricity yourself, engage and collaborate with your co-manufacturer, to explore feasibility of renewable power procurement.
Swap out fossil fuel-powered boilers and furnaces for electric versions to run on your renewable power supply – such as heat pumps.
​​Mandate that a percentage of your energy spend or usage be from renewable energy sources.
