Much of our emissions come from business travel (to conferences, pitches, and client meetings). We check that a meeting needs to be in-person before agreeing to it. When we attend meetings, we travel via public transport where possible, use time efficiently to contact other clients in the vicinity, encourage team members to eat plant-based when travelling for work, and use hotels with a robust sustainability policy if staying the night (which we try to avoid as it creates more emissions).

*

Yes

Our mission is based not only on our own work, but teaching our clients to be more environmentally-minded too. It\'s: \"Our mission is for our clients to have the most accessible, inclusive and sustainable websites – in the world! – by 2033.\"

6.4 Have you taken actions this year outside of your emissions to accelerate climate progress?

*

Yes

We\'re an Ecologi Climate Action Workforce – https://ecologi.com/supercool. We plant trees for every new website project launched. (Rouhgly offsetting our work – this is worked out by multiplying our approximate emissions per person per day by the number of days we spent on the project.) We\'ve started a Sustainability Working Group, to share the load of taking meaningful action, and to disemminate info about this throughout the team. We\'ve run – and freely shared – a benchmark study and report, around the carbon footprint of culture sector websites. The report includes ways in which cultural organisations - both our clients and others – can improve their websites in terms of environmental impact. Sharing this freely, and publicising widely will help to accelerate climate progress: https://supercooldesign.co.uk/cultural-website-sustainability-benchmark-report-2025

Results, Challenges and Outlook *

7.1 Provide any additional comments or context on your annual results and progress from previous years.

*
Although we\'re a remote team, ad mindful of keeping emissions down, our carbon emissions have increased, due to growing the team, attending more events, and doing more in-person pitches and Discovery sessions. We had begun to refuse to pitch / run workshops in person, but this negatively impacted the business – we actively lost work becuase of it. So we do travel more than we\'d like to. But we do it only when necessary, and are mindful of how we do it. (We also share tips about how others can do this too: https://supercooldesign.co.uk/articles/a-supercool-guide-to-sustainable-in-person-meetings)

7.2 Do you face any key challenges in reducing emissions?

*

Reducing scope 3 emissions,Reducing emissions from business travel,Balancing emission reductions with business growth,Lack of skills and knowledge,Inaccurate or insufficient data,Other challenges (please specify)

Specify other challenges

*
See above – clients insist on meeting in person at times. This is something we try to navigate as thoughtfully as possible. And we continue to discuss with clients the benefits of less travel.

7.3 Has there been any third party validation of the data submitted in this report?

*

No
