Our focus lies on decarbonizing our products and supply chain – and on making our services and business more circular. >>Implementation of renewable energy in supply chain. Working with industry leading suppliers, we see a lot of improvement with emissions being measured, targets set, solar panels installed and efficiency increased. Together with the European Outdoor Group we support our suppliers on this journey. These efforts will be measured in future reports. >>Switching from virgin to recycled materials, we reduce the footprint of a new product. Also, Polyester is less carbon intensive than Nylon, a lighter product has a lower impact than a heavier one. The challenge is to keep performance and durability at today’s high level while reducing its impact. >> By creating mono-material products, we increase the possibilities for recycling in the future. We aim to increase the number of monomaterial products. We also encourage upcycling projects and plan to do so at a greater scale. Increased durability and repairability (circular system) Though not easy to measure, our repair services play a substantial role in our sustainability efforts. Our own repair services in Switzerland and the USA keep our products in use and keep them out of landfills.

For Scope 1, 2, and Scope 3.2, 3.5, 3.6 and 3.7 categories, the online corporate footprint calculator by myclimate was used. For some scope 3 categories, empiric values from myclimate calculator were used. For our biggest impact, our own product range, a separate PCF calculation was performed with myclimate, assessing all cradle to gate emissions for all Exped products based on primary data from suppliers or on empiric values, using ecoinvent database (including Scope 3.1, 3.4, 3.9 and 3.12). Myclimate assessed 11 deputy products to define an emission coefficient (kg CO2e per kg Product) for each subcategory. For Product Carbon Footprint, an uncertainty factor of 10% has been added to all emissions.
