LED lights implemented around our sites , Installing more efficient modern boilers, Replacing solar film to help keep our offices cooler in summer , Added a raised roof in our freezer to reduce solar heat during summer , Added in external lighting controller to operate our lighting more efficiently by using sunrise and sunset web data, added a new distribution hub in SW England to minimize driving distances and allow more appropriate sized vehicles for delivery to reduce food miles and fleet emissions, added on a new biogas truck for the fleet, training our drivers to reduce engine idling and fuel efficient driving, switched to lithium-ion electric warehouse trucks, currently investigating solar panels and rainwater harvesting.

We are working to gather more data from our suppliers on their own scope 1 + 2 carbon emissions with the plan to work with our top suppliers to reduce our value chain emissions.

All our emissions have been calculated by our trusted carbon consultants ‘Carbon Footprint ltd’ using UK SIC codes and industry averages. Our supply chain screening assessment was calculated on a spend basis methodology using SIC codes. Some areas we gathered primary data include employee commuting, business travel, freight and distribution, waste etc.

We constantly monitor our ESG risks, scoring them and reviewing updates with our audit and risk area. We are also currently looking at monitoring our risks in line with TCFD reporting guidance and looking into scenario analysis for our climate risks and impacts. We also monitor our most high-risk suppliers from countries with high vulnerability scores to the effects of climate change.

In our purpose, mission and vision we make reference to doing business sustainably and sourcing products ethically.

Yes

We are participants in our local Calderdale councils climate action plan, calling for more local action in the region towards climate action. We also sign up to various call to action initiatives like Business Declares and the Yorkshire and Humber climate commission declaration. We make regular social posts to promote climate action and sustainability events such as promoting Fairtrade, organic, zero waste, plastic free July and other sustainability projects and events.

7.1 Provide any additional comments or context on your annual results and progress from previous years.

We have managed to reduce our scope 1 and 2 emissions by around 11% over the past 2 years through various energy reduction activities such as more efficient boilers, LED lighting, new distribution hubs for our fleet, better lighting controls etc and we aim to continue decarbonizing our own emissions as well as our value chain emissions in line with our net zero targets.
