Comment on your energy consumption

MSIP gets its energy from Ecotricity, which is 100% renewable energy. There are two sources to this - one from the grid, which is a mix of offshore and onshore wind energy, solar energy, hydropower and crop-fed anaerobic digestion, and the other from their in-house wind turbines. Although renewable energy is theoretically supposed to have zero carbon emissions, the transportation and storage produces tiny amounts of greenhouse gases that needs to be calculated.

List any sources of emissions excluded:

*

Scope 3 emissions include all sources not within the scope 1 and 2 boundaries. Although MSIP tenants are part of Scope 3 emissions, it is not included in this report as required by the organisation. It must be noted that Scope 3 will be incomplete without tenants’ emission as they are indirect contributors of greenhouse gases on the site.

describe the calculation methodology and comment on accuracy:

*

Data needed for this was collected in the following ways: • data from MSIP about direct fuel and oil burning sources • Analysis of data from MSIP's gas, electricity, and waste management bills • Staff survey of direct & indirect employee emissions The BBVA online calculator tool was used to use the data to calculate the carbon footprint - https://www.bbva.es/en/general/sostenibilidad/soluciones-para-personas/huella-de-carbono-personas/repositorio/no-reciclar-la-basura.html

MVV Environment Baldovie Ltd (MVV) has started to heat Michelin Scotland Innovation Parc (MSIP) with steam from its new energy from waste combined heat and power facility. This is the first energy from waste heating system of its kind in mainland Scotland. Energy recovered from combustion of domestic waste is to be employed to heat the Parc, using an over ground pipeline to supply heat from the energy from waste facility direct to MSIP.
