3.7 Describe your plans and actions taken to reduce scope 1 & 2 emissions.

*
Our planned actions include engaging with our co-working provider to confirm or advocate for a switch to a 100% renewable electricity tariff, as well as requesting transparency around the building’s energy sourcing and encouraging adoption of green building certifications. We also plan to reduce residual emissions through the purchase of high-quality carbon offsets, should renewable electricity not be available (e.g., tree-planting initiatives).

3.8 Describe the calculation methodology and comment on the data accuracy, including any tools/methods used to calculate.

*
Our business does not produce Scope 1 emissions. We operate from a shared co-working space and do not own or control any combustion-based heating, cooling, or energy systems. This also means that we don’t have direct access to utility bills or metered energy data. Additionally, many of our team members work from home. Thus, our annual energy consumption is an estimate based on proxy data. All company vehicles are electric and charged using third-party infrastructure, which is accounted for under Scope 2 or Scope 3 emissions.

At Holy Brook Associates, our name is inspired by the Holy Brook, a small stream in Reading that once powered the abbey’s mill — a reminder of how natural systems have long supported human enterprise. This connection to local heritage and nature reflects our commitment to sustainability. While we do not currently have formal shareholder agreements, our mission includes a clear focus on supporting sustainable, purpose-driven organisations. We aim to operate in a way that respects environmental limits, reduces our carbon footprint, and contributes to a more climate-resilient future.

Results, Challenges and Outlook *

7.1 Provide any additional comments or context on your annual results and progress from previous years.

As a small business operating from a shared co-working space, Holy Brook Associates has limited direct control over our energy use and infrastructure. Despite this, we are deeply committed to greatly reducing our climate emissions and reporting our progress along the way. Signing up to SME Climate Hub has been a first step forward to better understand our emissions. Having achieved net zero Scope 1 emissions by climate-conscious initiatives such as having fully-electric motor vehicles, we are proud of the progress we have made and are committed to continuous improvement - both in reducing our own footprint and in helping others do the same, one ripple at a time!
